We're Hiring: Senior Visual Designer

by Gene Smith on August 20, 2008

Update: This position is now filled.

Over past few months we've found that our clients and projects (in particular Midori) need the skills of an experienced interface/interactive designer. So we've decided to bring on a Senior Visual Designer to round out our team.

If the job description below sounds like you, please drop us a line at careers@nform.ca.

About the Position

  • We're looking for someone who can turn complex requirements and detailed research into simple, usable, beautiful designs. Our ideal candidate will have several years of experience designing websites and web applications, and a rich portfolio to show for it.
  • Because the bulk of our work involves the web, you should be familiar with XHTML, CSS, Ajax, Flash and other web technologies and standards. You'll make occasional forays into print and other media, and perhaps identity and branding. But most of your time will be doing interactive work.
  • A degree in design, fine arts or some related field is an asset but not an absolute requirement.
  • You should enjoy collaborating with a team--information architects, interaction designers and developers--on design solutions.
  • Experience and technical skills are important to us, but so is attitude and mindset. We love great design, but we also think of design as a means to an end--making something easier to use, solving a business problem, improving someone's life, that kind of thing.

Qualifications

  • Strong design portfolio (including application design).
  • Experience with user experience design principles and processes.
  • 3-5 years of experience designing websites, web applications and other interactive designs.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • University degree in a related field an asset.
  • Your portfolio, process, and mindset trump both formal education and previous jobs, though we appreciate good schools and good work.

Compensation

  • Negotiable based on your experience
  • Participation in employee bonus program
  • Fully paid benefits package
  • Participation in employee professional development program
  • Relocation allowance (if necessary)

How to Apply

Email your resume (Word or PDF) and link to your online portfolio to careers@nform.ca. If we're going to go ahead with an interview, we'll let you know within a week.
