Participatory Design

Participatory Design

What:
An approach to design that actively involves stakeholders in the design process. Exercises help the group to explore the problem space, current and ideal experiences, and ways of achieving the ideal.

Why:
Participatory Design sessions enable people with different expertise and skills to contribute equally. Can be an efficient way to get a wide range of input. May enhance user buy-in by making them feel more included, and giving them a greater sense of ownership.

Resources:
Liz Sanders is a seminal figure in participatory design and generative research.
