nForm recently hired two new consultants to join the team. A little while ago we introduced you to Christopher and now we would like you to meet Carissa!
Carissa Ng is well-versed in user research, content strategy, brand strategy and facilitation. Her broad experience allows her to step into several roles. She has crafted and implemented a variety of strategies for large public-sector and non-profit organizations. Here is a little more about Carissa:
Where did you go to school?
I graduated from Royal Roads University with my Bachelor’s in Professional Communications and the University of Victoria for my Public Relations Diploma.
What skills are you hoping to develop while working at nForm?
I’m honoured to be part of a cross functional team made up of such experienced, talented and accomplished folks. I’m looking forward to developing my UX research, design and information architecture skills. As a communications professional by trade, I haven’t done much design work, so I’m excited to begin creating wireframes, mockups and prototypes.
What’s the one thing about yourself that you think people would be surprised to know?
I’m a thrill seeker. I confronted my fear of heights a few years ago when I went sky diving. While it was pretty terrifying, it was a lot of fun and I’d definitely do it again.
What’s your favourite blog?
I absolutely love Fabricio Teixeira’s UX Collective blog. Since I work so closely with designers, I really enjoy learning about their views on UX, usability and product design. Fabricio’s blogs are thorough, informative and interesting – you can tell that he puts time and thought into his posts.
What made you choose this career path?
I made the shift from Communications when I started performing UX research and fell in love with it. UX consulting offers the perfect mix of research, analysis and writing. I like to think I’m empathetic and curious – which is helpful when I need to understand several types of users, define approaches and problem solve.
