Background: Matt Brown is the Manager, Digital Experience at Servus Credit Union. He is part of the Digital Experience Team that is responsible for many aspects of the digital properties at Servus. They are Business Owners and Managers, Digital Marketers, Content Managers, and the support team to more than 140 content authors and approvers across the organization. They work with the business to understand where the problems and areas of improvement exist on their intranet, and they work with the development/technical team to determine business needs, set scope, and ensure delivery through regular releases. The team likes to think of themselves as the owners of the vehicle that drives content and communication forward at Servus.
Question: What are some of the highlights of working on your intranet?
Matt: Developing such a large and diverse group of content authors and approvers has been a highlight for me. What used to be completely handled by a team of three is now spread out across the whole company – which means updates are more timely, relevant, and accurate. It has its challenges as well, but when it comes to our intranet I see this as being one key area that will continue to grow.
Question: What are some of the opportunities you see for the future?
Matt: Collaboration! We have some ideas, but still have a lot of work in front of us when it comes to defining and determining what collaboration through our intranet means to us. We know there is a huge appetite for this internally; it is just a matter of determining what we can do through our intranet now and in the future. It makes it exciting for us, we get to explore an opportunity that has not existed at Servus before – to connect an entire province of employees to be able to collaborate and connect as if they are all in the same room together.
