Concept Video

Concept Video - UX Methods Trading Cards

What:
A method for exploring design possibilities by making short films about how people might use a technology in the future. Concept videos often focus on the context and benefits of use, rather than on specific interaction details.

Why:
Some prototyping methods concentrate on the granular details of a design — what functions and controls to include, and how to lay them out. Because concept videos tell stories and avoid minutiae, they are better suited to explaining a new vision.

Resources:
The image on this card comes courtesy of our friends at Adaptive Path, who created a series of concept videos to illustrate a future browser called Aurora for Mozilla Labs. Many thanks Jesse!

nForm's Jess McMullin also collects quite a few concept videos on his YouTube favorites.
